Brands & Films We Use

Professional Film Brands, Installed Properly

The result of any PPF or wrap job depends on two things: the quality of the film and the quality of the installation. At DTC, we use professional-grade paint protection film and vehicle wrapping films chosen for clarity, finish, durability, adhesive quality and long-term performance.

PPF & Wrapping FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about paint protection film, vinyl wrapping and how the two compare.

What is the difference between PPF and vinyl wrap?

PPF is mainly for protection. Vinyl wrap is mainly for styling and colour change. Colour change PPF gives both styling and protection, but it is usually a more premium option.

How long does PPF last?

High-quality PPF can last up to 10 years or more depending on the film, installation, maintenance and how the vehicle is used. Some film ranges offer product-dependent warranties beyond this, but we will always explain the specific warranty for the film chosen before fitting.

Can PPF stop stone chips?

PPF massively reduces the risk of stone chip damage on protected areas, especially on front bumpers, bonnets, wings and mirrors. It is one of the best protection options for motorway cars, performance cars and daily drivers.

Can you apply PPF to a brand-new car?

Yes. New cars are ideal for PPF because the paintwork can be protected before it collects stone chips, scratches and wash damage.

Can PPF be removed?

Yes, PPF can usually be removed safely when it has been installed and removed correctly. Removal condition depends on the film age, paint condition, previous paintwork and how the vehicle has been maintained.

Can you ceramic coat over PPF?

Yes, ceramic coating can usually be applied over suitable PPF to improve water behaviour, make washing easier and add slickness. The correct coating must be used and applied after the film has been installed properly.

Will PPF make my car look different?

Gloss PPF is designed to be very discreet and preserve the original gloss look. Satin or matte PPF can change the finish of the vehicle. Colour change PPF can completely transform the appearance.

Is colour change PPF better than vinyl wrap?

Colour change PPF is more protective than a standard vinyl wrap because it is designed as a paint protection film. Vinyl wrap is still a great choice for styling, dechromes, roof wraps and colour changes where protection is less important.

How long does a vinyl wrap last?

A quality vinyl wrap can last several years depending on the film, installation, exposure, cleaning methods and whether the vehicle is stored indoors or outdoors. Horizontal panels such as bonnets and roofs usually take more UV and weather exposure than vertical panels.

Do you remove badges and trims when wrapping or fitting PPF?

Where safe and suitable, some badges, trims and parts may be removed to improve the finish. This depends on the vehicle, the package and the risk of removal. We will discuss this before work begins.

Can you wrap chrome trims?

Yes, dechrome wrapping is one of the most popular styling upgrades. Window surrounds, grille trims, badges, roof rails and other chrome details can often be wrapped in gloss black, satin black or other finishes.

Do you offer headlight PPF?

Yes. Headlight PPF is a smart add-on because modern headlights can be expensive to replace. It helps protect against stone chips, scratches and surface wear.

Do you offer interior PPF?

Yes. Interior PPF is ideal for gloss black trims, centre consoles, touchscreens and high-touch areas that scratch easily.

Where are you based?

DTC is based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, ideally located for customers from Derby, Nottingham, Long Eaton, Heanor, Stapleford, Beeston and across the East Midlands.
